What is a Blind Rivet?

The term blind rivet is derived from the word “Blind Job” because it was used when you have only one sided access to a joint. It is made up of two parts, a body and mandrel. The body and mandrel of the rivet are assembled together and are present in different combination of materials according to their usage. Some of the material combination of blind rivet available in the market are:

Aluminum Rivet with Aluminum Mandrel

Aluminum Rivet with Steel Mandrel

Aluminum Rivet with Stainless Steel Mandrel

Steel Rivet with Steel Mandrel

Stainless Steel Rivet with Steel Mandrel

Stainless Steel Rivet with Stainless Steel Mandrel

Plastic Rivet with Plastic Mandrel

This material combination of bind rivet determines their stability as wrong combination can lead to the galvanic corrosion. Blind rivets are available in flat head, countersunk head, and modified flush head.

What Makes Blind Rivet perfect for Aerospace?

The blind rivets are used for the aerospace applications due to a number of advantages:

They can be used from one side only.

They are very easy to install and don’t need skilled workers.

They are visible through eyes and don’t need expensive apparatus for inspection.

They are reliable because of the unrestricted material and strong connection.

They can be used with two different materials.

C-130 Transport Aircraft

C-130 Transport Aircraft

Since it’s first flight on August 23, 1954, the C-130 transport aircraft has become the most successful military aircraft ever. More than 2,300 C-130s (also called the C-130J, the Hercules aircraft, which is the newest model) have been built for more than 67 countries. But why is it so popular?

Other than the fact that this aircraft feels like it can do almost anything, it has some pretty unique features. Firstly, it meets a diverse array of transport needs and can land almost anywhere with twenty tons of cargo. Secondly, the Air Force and the Lockheed Corporation invested continuously into new technology that they used to improve the C-130s performance over the past sixty years. This is one of only five aircrafts that have seen continuous use for fifty years or more, sharing the list with the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, the English Electric Canberra, Tupolev Tu-95 and the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress.

The aircraft is capable of unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings, which makes it an asset. Originally designed as a cargo, troop and medical aircraft, the C-130 has also been used in a variety of ways due to it’s versatility, including scientific research support, a gunship (called the AC-130), aerial firefighting, maritime patrol, search and rescue and much more.

C-130 Aircraft Engine

This is a four-engine Allison AE2100D3 turboprop military transport aircraft that has a top speed of 593 km/h. The engines are equipped with full-authority digital electronic control (FADEC) and the automatic thrust control system makes sure there is a perfect balance between the engines, allowing much lower levels of minimum control speeds and fantastic short runway performance. Beyond that, the fuel weight capacity of the aircraft internally is 45,900 pounds and it can carry an additional 18,700 pounds in underwing fuel tanks. This aircraft climbs faster and flies higher all thanks to the engines.

The aircraft is manned by two pilots and a loadmaster and features a new glass cockpit with four L-3 display systems for flight control and navigation. Also, the “J” variant of the C-130 (nicknamed Super Hercules) is equipped with dynamic, integrated defensive countermeasures including the ATK AN/AAR-47 missile warning system. This system uses electo-optic sensors (mounted on the nose below the second cockpit window and the tail cone) in order to detect missile exhaust and advanced processing algorithms prioritize threats.  This is only one of the many defensive countermeasures that can be found on the aircraft.

Bell Helicopter History

Bell Helicopter History

As one of the most effective and popular brands of helicopter out there, Bell has established itself as one of the key names within the industry for some time now tanks to their incredible attention of detail and their intricate nature inside the cockpit by the helicopters themselves.

They know how to make the interior of a helicopter spacious and comfortable, as well as ensuring that pilots have the depth and detail of options available to them to make sure they can take off, fly and land without any potential problems.

The company itself has a huge amount of history, having first been formed in 1935. The helicopter brands that they offer are used around the world, and its humble beginnings in Texas, USA have seen Bell expand far beyond their original position to become one of the genuine leaders of aviation in the world.

They provide commercial aircraft for various services and solutions, and also offer training and support all across the globe for any company that is using Bell products on a regular basis. Getting this right is vital, and it will be a massive part of making their service as useful as possible in the coming years.

However, Bell have always been noted for their dedicated and friendly support structure. This makes it much easier for you to hop into the cockpit and to feel as if you are taking off into something truly unique; their helicopters, from the Bell 30 through to the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X, have all come with a guarantee of performance and quality.

The company’s strength and foundation has been there from today once, as the Bell Company focused on creating fighter aircraft that could make as significant difference on the battlefield. They came up with two specific fighters; the XFM-1 Airacuda, and the P-39 Airacobra.

Both were relatively well received but they were never quite the level that some were hoping for. Rather than letting it get them down, Bell worked on the problems and soon started to move into newer levels of helicopter design and development across the globe.

Eventually, the company lost its dependence on government and military equipment and was producing commercial helicopters – the Bell 47 being their first of note – for various purposes worldwide.

Eventually, the company was bought out by Textron and it eventually became a massive part of the industry for helicopters as their helicopter arm became the strongest of the company. Their most successful release, arguably, is that of the UH-1 “Huey”. This helicopter was used during the Vietnam War to amazing effect and it soon became one of the most prominent pictures of the entire conflict.
